My name actually says a lot about who I am. My last name is from Henry Hunter who was a slave owner on a plantation in Tennessee…My mother is white, and Jewish, and my father is black. My parents enjoy doing things like giving a Chanukah menorah as a gift under the Christmas tree…

In high school I wanted to be a rap music backup dancer. This was the era of MC Hammer and serious dancing – not just bootie-shaking and such. Now, I do research on rap music and its images of women of color. Oh well.

BWC is open-open to new ideas, new people and new communities. So we are opening our meeting to do just that, show others who are not normally at Black Women’s Collective meeting what we are doing here on campus and why we are proud of who we are as individuals.

Light snacks will be provided.

On Tuesday October 6th from 7pm-8pm, we will be inviting faculty, friends, and staff to our BWC Meeting in the Faculty-Lounge.

• We are sending a letter to Alice Walker.

•More decorated or more welcoming environment

Game Musical Questions

Announcements
•A woman from Glamour magazine asked us to nominate a woman of the year.
As a club we nominate Ashley as woman of the year for her achievements in standing alone as a black a senior and being active and inspiring on/off campus.
The message will be forwarded to everyone.
A template can be created for Ashley.

•Tyler Perry “I can do bad all by myself.” We want to go this Friday at Jack London Theatre. After 8 maybe?? Emails will be sent out to let you know!

•Next Monday the 14th is our monthly dinner 6pm at Founders.
You can dress up if you want to. Eat as whole. Eat as a collective.

•BWC had been asked to run a Book Drive for Better World Books.
We will collect unwanted textbooks to give to suffering communities with illiteracy.
All people for Book Drive!!

•Peer Health Exchange. Need volunteers for the program. You can send an email to peerhealthexchange.org.
Info session is Thursday at 6:30 in NSB 215
